The story of a lower-middle-upper-class family of Springfield, USA,
THE SIMPSONS has been breaking television ground since 1989.
Not only is THE SIMPSONS the longest-running prime-time animated series, it's also the longest-running sitcom on primetime. It has earned numerous awards including 12 Emmys and a Peabody.
THE SIMPSONS is brought to life by the voices of Dan Castellaneta as Homer, Julie Kavner as Marge, Nancy Cartwright as Bart and Yeardley Smith as Lisa. Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer also provide
the voices of a myriad of characters. Cartoonist Matt Groening created the the series in 1987 as a series of 30-second shorts for the then Fox series "The Tracey Ullman Show." Because of the huge
positive response, THE SIMPSONS became a show of its own starting with a Christmas special Dec. 17, 1989, and began as a regular series Jan. 14, 1990.
The show's producers and writers take up to six to eight months to produce just one episode. Changes to episodes are made frequently to keep references current and hilarious.
James L. Brooks, Matt Groening and Mike Scully are executive producers. THE SIMPSONS is a Gracie Films Production in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television.
